Libby Schwartz directed an international
private practice and a Vietnamese clinic in Ho Chi Minh City for ten years and returned
in 2009 to Princeton, NJ,
to open a private practice.
For several years she traveled to numerous
countries to seek indigenous healing practices that might complement western psychotherapy for persistent psychological problems
that could not be resolved with psychotherapy alone.
She developed the theory of “Primary
and Secondary Wounds” to gently encourage the client to look at the issues and defenses which were developed early in
life and are still contributing to difficulties in coping with current problems in relationships and in the workplace.
The effects of this orientation have been
productive and powerful and is accomplished in brief, not prolonged, therapy.
